With the release of LineageOS 20, and the above phones no longer supporting custom AVB keys after Android 11, it’s time to drop them from the build roster. As such, the January 2023 builds for these devices will be the last available and will only be available for a few months as they naturally drop off the updater. The device pages will be updated to reflect their status.

While the S5e is not offically supported, it is used as a testbed for WundermentOS. As such, the next release of WundermentOS for it will be based upon LineageOS 20/Android 13. This requires a firmware update before installing, if you do not install the newer firmware you may find it very unstable and you may have your data reset. As such, follow the firmware update guide over on the LineageOS wiki before deploying the new version of WundermentOS to your tablet.

Official LineageOS 20 was released today with support for the Pixel 5. As such the next release of Wunderment for the Pixel 5 will be based on 20. Also, the all of the OnePlus 5 through 9 devices have LineageOS 20 support, and The 5T and 6/6T will be migrated to LineageOS 20 as well. The OnePlus 7/7T/8T/9 will remain on LineageOS 18 as this is the last version that supports bootloader relocking for these devices. LineageOS 18 is feature frozen at this point, but support will continue at this time. Support for the Pixel 6/7 on LineageOS 20 has not yet been officially announced, but once it has been the 6 will be added to the officially supported WundermentOS builds, with the 7 following at some point in the future once a build device is available for testing./. WundermentOS 20 has already been in beta testing and so far…

As mentioned here, it is unfortunatly that time to deprecate the OnePlus 7/7 Pro as they have now received LineageOS 19.1 support with the requirement for the OxygenOS 12 bootloader. What does that mean? Builds will continue to be created for the device, but they will remain on LineageOS 18.1. Builds will continue to include security updates that are published in the monthly AOSP security bulletins. No future major updates (like to Android 13) will be available and builds will cease based upon the device retiremeny policy. Installation guides and videos will not be updated.

WundermentOS started builds way back in 2019 and at the time the standard for Android encryption keys was 2048 bits, and as such our private signing keys were generated at this level. Since that time, Android has moved to an even more secure 4096 and higher standard for newer versions. However, moving from one key to another is a significant hurdle and WundermentOS will not be attempting to replace the existing private keys of supported devices that began with the 2048 bit versions. For new devices, new 4096 bit keys have been generated and will be used for all new devices added to the build roaster in the future, starting with the Pixel 5. So what does this mean for you? Well, if you have WundermentOS currently installed, then there is nothing for you to do, you will continue to receive updates seamlessly in the future just as you always…

Unfortunately, as we move further away from the release of a phone, the vendor provides less and less support until they finally stop providing any updates. We have reached that point late last year for the Google Pixel 4 and as such, WundermentOS will move into a deprecated state for this device as of next months security patches. What does that mean? Builds will continue to be created for the device, but without vendor support, no new security patches for the proprietary blobs will be included. Builds will continue to include security updates that are published in the monthly AOSP security bulletins. Future major updates (like to Android 12) may or may not become available depending upon LineageOS support for those updates as well as if they are secure (aka SELinux enforcing enabled). Installation guides and videos will not be updated. So what should you do? If possible, upgrade your…

With Oneplus moving away from custom AVB key support in OOS 12 and 13, it’s time for WundermentOS to add some new Pixel devices to the build roster. The following devices will be added in the near future: Google Pixel 5: For the November security patch cycle. Google Pixel 6: Once official LineageOS support is added (currently this looks likely to be happening for the next major LineageOS release). Google Pixel 7: Once official LineageOS support is added (currently this looks likely to be happening for the next major LineageOS release). The Pixel 5 builds are already completed and tested. The Pixel 6 builds have been tested against the currently LineageOS 20.0 code, but will not become an official WundermentOS device until both LineageOS 20.0 is officially released and the Pixel 6 is officially supported by LineageOS.

With the ongoing changes to the list of support devices, it’s time to make an official policy on when devices are retired from having WundermentOS builds. As such, please visit the device retirement policy page for all the details. So what does this mean in practice? Well, when the next release of LineageOS arrives, it will mean the following devices will no longer have WundermentOS builds for them and existing builds will be removed: Oneplus 9 Oneplus 8T In addition, if the Oneplus 7/7 Pro is updated to a newer version of LineageOS, then both of these devices will no longer have WundermentOS builds generated and existing builds will be removed.

In the previous post, the update for the Oneplus 9 series was delayed due to a changes in OxygenOS 12, two items were identified and the updates on them are as follows: Partitions: All required new partitions have been identified and added to the builds Relocking the bootloader: All indications are that this is no longer possible, the bootloader contained in OxygenOS 12 is the one from ColorOS and does not support custom AVB keys. This means that any phone that officially receives OxygenOS12 or above can no longer be offically supported by WundermentOS. As such, all phones that fall in to this category will be moved to deprecated status. This will leave only the Pixel 4 as an officially supported phone (Oneplus 7/7 Pro will continued to be supported until they are updated to Android 12 or above), however the good news is that the Pixel 5 will soon…
