Work on Wunderment 18.1 is moving along well, with successful builds for the OnePlus 5T, OnePlus 8T, and Pixel 4 complete. Testing of each is underway and releases for all three should happen well in advnace of the May security release. One important note with the update to LineageOS 18.1 is that the Mail application has been dropped from the OS. Mail was removed due to lack of updates from the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) to the application. This has been a trend with the AOSP applications as Google focuses on their internal apps (like GMail). If you’re using Mail you will want to look for a replacement application before upgrading, K9 Mail is a good open source alternative or you can use GMail or Outlook if you are tied in to those ecosystems.

Offical LineageOS 18.1 was released today, with support for the OnePlus 5T on lanuch. The OnePlus 6T should be supported shortly, with the offical OxygenOS Android 11 release incoming as well. As such, work has been started on porting WundermentOS to 18.1. The 5T will be the first device to receive it, hopefully by the May security update. Once the 5T is support, the 6T should follow closely behind. In addtion, work on supporting the OnePlus 8T as well as the Pixel 4 has been started and will appear sometime after updates to LineageOS 18.1 for the 5T/6T are complete.

Like all major version updates for LineageOS, this requires a manual update via the adb command from your computer. As always, make sure to backup any data you have on your phone before performing the update and as an extra precaution you may want to enable the OEM unlock feature in developers options in case something goes wrong and you need to restore to a previous operating system via TWRP. Lineage 17.1 has lots of new features you may want to checkout, but perhpas the best new feature in the integration of SeedVault, a backup solution for Android that is now built in!
